20 North Broadway Tavern sits comfortably in the local Schenectady scene as a laid-back bar and restaurant where straightforward, well-executed comfort food pairs with a down-to-earth dive bar atmosphere. If you're stopping by, expect a place that thrives on the simple pleasures: a solid beer selection, a menu centered on wings with distinctive sauces, and burgers that have earned a loyal following.

The vibe here skews casual and unpretentious, with a friendly, welcoming staff who keep the energy upbeat even when the place is busy, like typical weekend nights. The walls are peppered with quirky, hippie stickers and TVs tuned to sports, making it clear this is a neighborhood spot where regulars chat it up over games and share plates of wings. It’s the kind of place that invites hanging out with a group of friends so you can sample different wing sauces side by side.

Food is straightforward but hits the mark, especially the wings—which are famously crisp and sauced just right—and the burgers, including notable mentions like the Gregg Allman Burger. The sides, particularly the fries and onion rings, often come in for their own praise. For those who steer clear of gluten, there are still options like salads that don’t feel like an afterthought.

Visiting on a Sunday afternoon or a lively Saturday night shapes the experience differently: quieter bar seats with attentive bartenders during the day, a buzzing, crowded floor with energetic conversations and clinking glasses when it’s prime time. It’s a spot well suited for those who appreciate a relaxed scene over fanciness—where the focus is on good food, solid drinks (including beer and some interesting cocktail options), and easygoing company.

In essence, 20 North Broadway Tavern works best for anyone looking to unwind with a cold beer and some reliably tasty wings in an environment that’s more local hangout than polished restaurant. Sports fans, wing enthusiasts, and groups seeking an affordable night out will likely find themselves coming back here when they’re in Schenectady.

Went in on a Sunday afternoon and found a seat at the bar. Zach was attentive and friendly. Ordered the Triple Threat Wings because I've heard such rave reviews and a beer. They have a nice selection btw. The wings did not disappoint. Came out hot, crispy and just the right amout of sauce. Probably the best I've had! Delicious! I loved the character of the place as a "dive bar" it fit the bill perfectly. Didn't feel uncomfortable at all. Locals were friendly too. Great place for wings and cold beer. Will definitely be back

A very popular bar, that continuously gets voted BEST wings. The wings have an excellent crisp with a variety of flavorful sauces to choose from. Your best bet is to go with friends so you can sample each other's. The bar has a laid back atmosphere with hippie stickers and plenty of TVs showing sports games. Fast service!

I was at the 20 North Broadway Tavern a few times last month. The food is really really good. You know when a kitchen executes simple food so well that it stands out? That's what they do here. Fries are the bomb. Wings are great. The Bruised Allman Burger? My favorite. The staff is fun and knowledgeable. Good drinks, good music, great food. It is now a regular stop when I come to town.

We really liked this place. It's like the most lovable dive bar you can imagine. It was pretty crowded when we came (Saturday night, so understandable) but the staff was still attentive and very friendly. The prices of both food and drinks were fantastic and the food was surprisingly good. I have celiac, so menu options were limited, but my salad was really good. Solid choice.

Our 1st time at 20 North Broadway. It was very good! We would certainly go back. Out to dinner with 3 adults & 1 teenager, looking for someplace different. The ratings were good, so we desided to try it. Smaller in size, nice bar and several booths. It was loud. Dave was our waiter- very efficient and totally in tune to our table. He was fantastic. We had wings and burgers. We all ate our dinners and everyone was happy. A great find. Worth the trip!

The service was fast, and the ambiance hasn't changed, which is good. But we ordered the triple threat wings and the sauce was very good like before, but the wings itself were terrible. The quality of the actual chicken looks disgusting and fake. Take a look for yourself. The wings were shaped like lollipops, and 2/3 of the wings were bones. Here is a comparison to another review of the wings from the past.
